"The Catholic Church by the airport."
The Gabriel Project is a ministry of the Diocese of Lake Charles which gives each parish the training and ability to do this outreach well, offering all the gifts and resources of the Catholic Church. Volunteers from our parish serve as Gabriel Angels, and each mother that comes to us is assigned an Angel to be with her each step of the way, to show her the love of Christ, to help her, and to be someone whom she can trust and count on. Along with Angels, other volunteers help to collect baby items, pick up and deliver large baby items such as beds, help to organize baby showers, and anything else that may be needed. This is truly a community effort, as other needs will come up. We have already had parishioners donate and deliver baby supplies/equipment and make home & hospital visits. Briefly, this is how the Gabriel Project works...Our sign lists the phone number to the Diocese office. When someone calls, the volunteer there finds out what her immediate needs are. If the mother lives in our area, the Gabriel Project parish coordinator will assign an Angel from our parish to her. The Angel and other volunteers will be called to help with things needed for the mother, but the most important thing is that we will be there with her each step of the way, so she will not be alone in her journey.
